Las Vegas. Two conventions. One collision no one planned for.
THE AWARD is a fast-moving satirical comedy set in Las Vegas, following Evan Hughes, an invisible Midwestern accountant whose greatest talent is quietly fixing problems nobody else notices. After years of being overlooked, he impulsively accepts a last-minute event-management job at a chaotic adult entertainment awards show.
He quickly discovers that he has stepped into the wildly chaotic XXX Awards, staged inside a sprawling casino convention center that has also somehow double-booked the American Council for the Blind conference. The environment is already on the verge of collapse: malfunctioning fog machines, rogue mechanical bulls, collapsing sponsor signage, livestreaming influencers and exhausted staff trying to keep the entire production alive with panic and caffeine. Evan is completely unequipped for Las Vegas spectacle, but unlike everyone around him, he still believes that systems are supposed to mean what they say. When he discovers that the award winners have been secretly pre-selected by smooth casino producer Rocco, a small ethical objection begins turning into something much larger. Then a glitter-cannon disaster leaves Evan stranded onstage, humiliated and holding a performer’s shoe. The internet instantly transforms him into a viral meme called “Glitter Boy.” Rather than contain the embarrassment, Rocco sees an opportunity and turns Evan’s accidental sincerity into branded entertainment. But as backstage vote totals begin appearing on giant screens and the awards show spirals out of control, something unexpected happens. Without scripts, applause signs and manufactured reactions telling them what to feel, the audience starts responding honestly. Spectators stop merely consuming the spectacle and begin participating in it. THE AWARD producer package 5.26
At the center of the chaos stands Evan: awkward, glitter-covered and incapable of strategic manipulation. His inability to perform becomes the one thing the system cannot manage.
THE AWARD is a comedy about manufactured authenticity, viral identity, institutional dishonesty and the exhausting pressure to turn everything — even rebellion — into a brand.
Evan does not destroy the machine.
He simply makes everyone notice it.
And in Las Vegas, even that becomes something somebody wants to monetize.
